Zankyou no Terror Episode Review: 1×11 “Von”

Zankyou no Terror‘s ending is predictable, but that doesn’t mean it’s not effective. While all of the plot points play out exactly as I expect, the impact they leave is raw and devastating. Zankyou no Terror isn’t the game changing anime I wanted it to be, but it manages to invoke strong feelings with it’s sympathetic characters and melancholy tone.

This week’s Zankyou no Terror wraps up a huge chunk of the mystery while also delivering a heartfelt and dramatic change in the relationships between Nine, Twelve, and Lisa. It’s a return to form after the less fitting tone of the airport arc, and all that’s left is the thrilling conclusion.

This week, I had two episodes of Zankyou no Terror to watch, and it still felt like only ten minutes had gone by before I was finished with them. Zankyou no Terror gains momentum with every new episode even as it savors the more quiet moments. It’s shaping up to be one of my favorite series of the summer.

Zankyou no Terror does not waste time getting into the thick of things this week. Not only does it deal with the aftermath of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building bombing, it launches right on into another one.
