Free! has come to what is likely a permanent end. While last summer’s Iwatobi Swim Club left us with the promise of more, Eternal Summer’s end card seems distinctly final. While I would never object to more swimming shenanigans, I think Free! found a good place to stop.
This week’s Free! takes a small break from Haru’s crisis to focus on Rin and Sousuke. With two episodes left, Free! is starting to wrap up a few subplots and prepare for a dramatic and tense conclusion to the season.
Free! Eternal Summer is on the cusp of a dramatic turn. Things have been relatively carefree up to this point, at least concerning the graduation story line. But with so few tournaments left for the third years, stakes are heightened and friendships will be tested.
Last week, I mentioned that I was hoping for some focus on Rei and Nagisa, and Free! Eternal Summer delivered just that.
Welcome back, Free! fans. Today’s episode was packed with new characters and plotlines, so I’m just gonna jump right in (see what I did there?).
