This week’s Sleepy Hollow rose from the smoking ashes of “Deliverance” with a more acceptable episode. Katrina, finally, is given a real chance to show off her skills and personality, making “Heartless” a worthy entry to the series even with the cliche’ succubus plot and the tiresome presence of Hawley.
Sailor Moon Crystal shows its hand with the revelation of Usagi’s former life and the significance of her relationship with Mamoru. With several heart-wrenching moments and some gorgeously animated key scenes, “Serenity” makes for one of Crystal‘s better episodes.
This week, The Walking Dead takes a break from the Beth-Carol-Daryl crisis to check in on Glenn, Maggie, Abraham, and the rest of the Washington DC-bound group. As multiple setbacks delay their progress on the road, Abraham begins to get caught up in his desire to complete his mission, which leads to a major revelation from Eugene.
This week’s Sleepy Hollow delves into the creepy, unfortunate world of mystical pregnancies. Does it manage to subvert this misogynist trope? Not really. While “Deliverance” does finally bring the underused Katrina into the modern world, it immediately sticks her with a horrifying demon pregnancy that drags down the rest of the episode.
The Walking Dead finally addresses Beth’s disappearance and current whereabouts in this week’s episode. While the creepy hospital featured in “Slabtown” lacks the raw terror of, say, a roving band of cannibals, it does provide a decent arena for Beth to show off her survival skills.
The Legend of Korra is moving right along with both Korra’s personal development and the development of Kuvira’s increasingly totalitarian nation. While the airbending kids go on a rescue mission to save Korra, the dark side of Kuvira’s mission becomes ever more apparent to Bolin and Varrick.
Sleepy Hollow focuses on the family this week, with Abbie becoming reacquainted with her former mentor’s son. As she attempts to reconnect with the troubled young man, Ichabod contemplates his feelings for Henry, and Irving confronts the man who paralyzed his daughter.
Let it never be said that Rick Grimes isn’t a man of his word. After a horrifying conclusion to last week’s episode, the nightmare continues as Rick’s group is hunted by Gareth and the other cannibals.
Sailor V’s introductory episode is one of Sailor Moon Crystal‘s better episodes. Minako is a fan favorite, and her episode perfectly captures her personality while also serving as a transition to what is soon to be a huge plot advancement.
The Legend of Korra focuses back in on the goings on in Republic City in it’s most recent episode, while also jumping back to Korra’s lessons with Toph. As Korra tries and fails to recover under Toph’s regimen, Mako and Bolin clash over political ideologies at Prince Wu’s coronation day. With Kuvira making her intentions for the Earth Kingdom clear, “The Coronation” serves to set up the varying conflicts that will define Season 4.
